As I write this it is almost a week before Thanksgiving. The hectic pace and long to-do lists that characterize the days between Thanksgiving and New Year's are approaching. Our family has an additional event ahead - a January wedding.
Today is a good time to take stock of life's joys and blessings. The weather has gotten colder and that means more cozy nights at home by a fire, or outside bundled up and cuddling. The leaves have colored and fallen so hiking with Bailey is different. I can see the squirrels and birds in the trees instead of only hearing them. When it gets cold I cook more dinners in the oven so the heat warms the kitchen and the smell lingers throughout the house.
Despite all the seasons I have neglected to send out Christmas cards we still receive them from our friends and family. It's a joy to walk to the mailbox during the holidays. I am grateful for the people who didn't give up on us. This year I pledge to return to the tradition and mail cards filled with love and greetings.
Weddings, bridal showers, holiday parties and travel along with a brand new business - is it possible to keep focused on the things that count? I commit to trying because it is too important. Come Spring or even Valentine's day the remembrance of time with family and spent in nature will be safe in the heart while last minute holiday errands and dishes in the sink are long forgotten.
Gia is about dreams, and silks and a re-birth of something old that is given new life. If a vintagesilksari can become beautiful new trousers then old holiday stress and panic can be upcycled into cherished new traditions and memories.
May your dreams be fulfilled. And don't forget to stop and twirl!
